Over three gruelling days, teams chase nine target species, often spread 20 miles apart, all while trying to unravel chaotic tides, tricky weather, and the brutal pressure of the clock. To win, you need strategy, stamina, a bit of madness… and a whole lot of luck. From the lively Calcutta auction on Day 1 to the final frantic moments of Day 3, the crew push themselves to the brink in a blur of high stakes and low sleep. Species are ticked off one by one — big Barra, Queenfish, Cod, Flathead, GTs and more — with every fish hard-earned and every miss leaving a mark. Along the way there are meltdowns, failed flathead missions, blown-out plans, and even getting muscled off a spot by a crabber, all balanced by the pure satisfaction of landing a 72cm Barra and a last-minute GT. And through all the chaos, the boys hold their own against some of Australia’s best, leaning on Bob Bentley’s local know-how to stay in the race.
