Admittedly they're a hard sell these things. They just don't have that look about them that they'll get good traction. The good news is they're actually very good and you should consider them. Aluminium is widely used for grip on rocks. The idea is the soft aluminium conforms to the rock to get grip and that's exactly what these do.

A cleat from Simms that is specifically engineered to fit with our Vibram® rubber outsoles - utilizing corrosion-free aluminum to conform to micro-surfaces of rocks. Our AlumiBite™ Star Cleats work directly with our StreamTread™ lug pattern for traction you can trust on varied river bottoms and mossy rocks. The cleats are soft enough to conform to what's under your foot as you move along the unseen river bottom. With solid footing, your cast is better and you're free to explore the river.
