Simms Access Wading Boots

by Simms
$549.95

The Simms Access Boot delivers the best grip we’ve ever felt in a lightweight wading boot, thanks to its dual-compound Vibram® G.O.A.T. sole that bites hard on slick river rock and uneven terrain alike.

The standout feature is the dual-compound Vibram® outsole, built with Simms’ exclusive G.O.A.T. (Grip On Aquatic Terrain) technology. Underfoot, a softer Vibram® Idrogrip Flex compound sits through the centre of the sole, delivering exceptional grip and confidence when you’re wading slick rocks or uneven riverbed. Around the outside, a tougher Vibram® Idrogrip compound adds stability and traction for bush bashing, river banks and long walk-ins. It’s genuinely the best of both worlds, and the sole is fully compatible with Simms Hardbite and Alumibite studs if you want even more bite.

Up top, the TPU woven upper keeps weight to a minimum and eliminates water pick-up, so the boots stay light even after hours in the drink. A high-cushion, self-draining EVA midsole, paired with integrated drain holes, clears water fast and keeps each step feeling balanced and comfortable. The water-friendly liner is purpose-built for wading, while durable TPU heel overlays add extra ankle support when the terrain gets rough.

Finished with corrosion-resistant brass lace hooks and eyelets for a secure, dialled-in fit, the Simms Access Boot is tough, supportive and seriously grippy where it matters most.

Flylife Reviews and New Products – New Simms Access Boot Review

Reviewed and Tested by Damien Reynolds, The Flyfisher, Melbourne.

Having spent a quarter of my life working in a fly shop and watching hundreds of pairs of feet slide into wading boots of every make and model, I’ve come to one simple conclusion: every angler needs a rod to cast, but to actually go fishing, a reliable pair of boots is just as essential.

Simms has long been known for producing some of the best wading boots on the planet. Previous lightweight models have struck a fine balance between durability, minimal weight, and all-day support. Ideal for those long walks and longer days on the water. In my view, though, the real test of a “walk and wade” boot lies in its grip. And on first impression, the new Simms Access Boot doesn’t just meet that benchmark — it exceeds it.

The standout feature here, and the one most anglers will be talking about, is the dual Vibram compound sole. Built around Simms aptly named G.O.A.T. (Grip On Aquatic Terrain) technology, the outsole combines two materials to deliver the best of both worlds. In the centre sits Vibram’s Idrogrip FLEX compound — a softer, high-traction rubber that maximises grip on slick river stones. Surrounding it is the standard Vibram Idrogrip compound, which adds durability and stability when scrambling over dry rocks or rough tracks. The result is a boot that feels planted whether you’re knee-deep in current or halfway up a steep bank. The sole is also compatible with Simms optional studs for those who want even more bite.

Weight and water management are equally impressive. The TPU-woven upper keeps things light, even when wet, while the self-draining EVA midsole sheds water quickly. Together, they make bush-bashing upstream far less of a slog — you’re not dragging half the river with every step.

Of course, grip and lightness only go so far without proper support and durability, and here too Simms has gone the extra mile. TPU heel overlays and solid brass lace hooks and eyelets lock your foot in place, delivering the kind of stability you appreciate when the current’s pushing hard, or the footing turns awkward.

All told, the new Simms Access Boot is genuine leap forward in wading boot design, which is a big deal from a company which is already the market leader in wading boots. A mighty fusion of grip, comfort and stability. It’s built for anglers who walk far, wade hard, and expect their gear to keep up. A true fish-anywhere, walk-everywhere companion.
