The new Scott GT Series takes medium-action trout rods to another level — lighter, smoother, and more connected than anything Scott has built before. With refined internal ferrules, advanced resin tech, and completely re-engineered tapers, the GT delivers flawless loop control, instant recovery, and a feel that borders on unreal. Whether you're creeping up a creek, chasing risers on big water, or fishing long leaders with precision, the GT is Scott’s most versatile and finely tuned trout rod lineup ever.
No other rods match the legacy and longevity of the Scott G Series-rods that are filled with firsts, fished the world over, and passed down through generations. We’re proud to unveil the all-new iteration of this iconic rod series-the Scott GT.
New GT rods are lighter and sportier than their predecessors yet still possess smooth progressive actions, tremendous feedback, and top notch tippet protection that have kept dedicated anglers fishing the previous three generations of these rods for almost 50 years.
GT rods feature innovations that push them to the forefront of performance while retaining the most cherished attributes of G series rods.
The first is centered around wall thickness and our X-Core design approach. GT rods are the first series to feature our newest version of X-Core design principles, producing the thinnest walled blanks we’ve ever created. We’ve incorporated new multi-modulus lay ups combined with our ARC2 multi directional fibers to increase recovery and line speed, giving the rods greater stability and accuracy.
We also redesigned the signature Scott hollow internal ferrule. The ferrules are now up to 20% lighter and flex in tandem with the blanks more than ever before.
Bringing together new thinner walls with new ferrules creates blanks with incredible transmission of feel. The most nuanced movement of a fish or detection of a strike can be felt. What isn’t felt are the ferrules connecting each section, making these 4- and 5-piece rods feel almost like they’re one piece.
We also created a new model lineup. These new length–line weight configurations are designed to showcase what we think are the best characteristics of G series rods. Most have never been offered in any G series generation.
But they wouldn’t deserve the G series badge if they were just about the latest tech. We also pushed ourselves to make these some of the most artful and soulful rods we’ve ever crafted.
GT rods feature milled aluminum reel seats with type 3 hard coat, beautiful cocobolo wood inserts, and Flor grade cork grips. They also feature titanium framed Zirconia no tangle stripping guides complimented with Snake Brand Universal snake guides.
The little touches, like measuring wraps and alignment dots, are all there too.
Each GT rod is handcrafted in our shop in Montrose, Colorado and is hand inscribed and given an individual serial number.
Scott GT Series — Model-by-Model Overview
GT 743-4 (7’4” 3-wt) — The Creek Weapon
A true small-stream graphite rod with the soul of fiberglass. Short, precise, playful, and insanely light in hand. Perfect for pocket water, overgrown creeks, and dry-fly work inside 30 feet. Think “happy little rod” that still holds a gorgeous loop at range.
GT 843-5 (8’4” 3-wt, 5-pc) — The Backcountry Traveller
A five-piece rod that casts like a four-piece. Light, progressive, and super rangy. Loads sweetly on small creeks yet holds shape and power on bigger freestones. Ideal for alpine missions, bike-packing, travel, and anyone who wants a pack rod with zero compromises.
GT 844-5 (8’4” 4-wt, 5-pc) — The All-Round Trout Specialist
Defies physics for a 5-piece. Deep flex, fast recovery, and excellent stability. Brilliant with dries, hoppers, light nymphs, and all the finesse casts — roll casts, reach casts, long mends. A premium do-everything 4-weight, perfect for travel and backcountry fishing.
GT 8103-4 (8’10” 3-wt) — The Long-Range 3-Weight
Pure magic. Feather-light swing weight with absolutely no tip bounce. Throws tight loops effortlessly, handles long leaders, and mends like a rod a line-weight heavier. A dream for technical dry-fly fishing and big-water finesse.
GT 8104-4 (8’10” 4-wt) — The New Flagship Dry Fly Rod
An evolution of the legendary GS 884-4. Insanely versatile — floats dries off your bootlaces, keeps power at 60 feet, and handles dry-dropper or light nymph rigs with ease. Feels like an 8’6” rod but fishes like a 9’. This is the hero 4-weight in the lineup.
GT 8105-4 (8’10” 5-wt) — The Ultimate All-Purpose 5-Weight
Stable, smooth, powerful, and beautifully balanced. Great from the drift boat, great wading, great in wind. Switches effortlessly between nymphs, dry-droppers and single dries. This is the “one-rod-quiver” 5-weight for trout anglers.
GT 8106-4 (8’10” 6-wt) — The Trout 6-Weight You Actually Want to Fish
More refined and more capable than the older GS 6-weights. Deep flexing with more punch, better in the wind, better for streamers, better from the boat. Still has that medium-action feel, but now with real authority when you need it.
GT 984-4 (9’8” 4-wt) — The Technical Nymph & Dry Rod
Built for long leaders, pressured fish, and complex water. Exceptional at mending, lifting, and protecting ultralight tippet. Beautiful dry-fly precision with plenty of backbone for nymphs. A true “thinking angler’s” rod for tailwaters and tough fish.
GT 985-4 (9’8” 5-wt) — Stillwater & Long-Line Specialist
A surprisingly light, lively long rod. Effortless long casts, gorgeous roll casts, and huge reach advantage for lakes or big rivers. Brilliant for technical presentations, long drifts, and fine tippet. A beast for nymphing and a sleeper hit for stillwater anglers.
