The defining feature of a Sweep line is the faster-sinking middle section. With the Sink 5 section dropping below the Sink 3 sections on either side, the line forms a U-shaped or parabolic profile underwater rather than sinking at one consistent rate.
This allows your flies to search through different depths during the retrieve. The belly of the line fishes deeper, while the slower-sinking tip keeps the flies positioned above the deepest section of the line. It’s a useful way of covering fish that are holding at different levels without constantly changing lines.
The Seamless Density construction smoothly blends the different sink rates together, reducing the hinging that can occur with abrupt changes in density. This helps maintain a more direct connection through the line and makes subtle takes easier to detect.
