The 1.7 inches per second sink rate provides a moderate, predictable descent, allowing you to keep your flies moving steadily through the upper part of the water column. Compared with a Hover line, it gets down more quickly and lets you search deeper while still giving you plenty of control over retrieve speed and depth.
While designed primarily for stillwater fishing, the Intermediate is also a great option for fishing streamers in rivers. The slow, even sink gets the line beneath the surface current and helps keep streamers down during the swing or retrieve without dropping as aggressively as a faster sinking line.
The 45 ft head is two line sizes heavy, providing the mass needed to turn over long leaders, teams of flies and larger stillwater patterns. Its longer head also allows you to carry plenty of line in the air and make longer casts when covering open water from the bank or boat.
Textured hang markers positioned 10 and 20 feet from the tip provide a tactile reference during the retrieve, particularly useful when fishing from a boat and working your flies right through to the end of the retrieve.
