The Capilene Midweight Bottoms hit a really nice balance between warmth and breathability. They’re warm enough for cold winter mornings on the river or lake, but not so heavy that they become uncomfortable once you start walking or moving around.
The recycled polyester diamond-grid fabric does an excellent job of trapping warmth while still remaining breathable and moisture wicking. It feels soft against the skin, dries quickly, and layers comfortably under waders without bunching up or restricting movement.
For fishing, they work exceptionally well during winter lake sessions, cold river mornings, or long days standing in icy water. Even after long walks or hiking into water, they stay comfortable rather than becoming clammy and cold.
Like most Patagonia layering pieces, they’re designed to disappear once you put them on — no bulk, no fuss, just reliable warmth and comfort throughout the day.
