The Frog Hair Stiff Butt Supple Tip Tapered Leader in the 9.5ft model is our preferred monofilament leader when you need reliable turnover without sacrificing presentation. Designed with a heavier, stiffer butt section, it transfers energy efficiently from the fly line to help straighten leaders, form tighter loops and deliver flies accurately.
This makes it a brilliant all-round option for anglers casting larger dry flies, weighted nymphs, indicator rigs or air-resistant patterns where softer leaders can collapse or fail to turn over cleanly. In windy conditions, the added authority is especially noticeable.
