The bugginess in this nymph and it's slender profile make it deadly on mayfly feeders.
Tassie flyfishing guide Christopher Bassano on his Possum/Hare's ear nymph...
This is a top dropper fly when fish are feeding on mayfly duns or nymphs. Wherever mayflies are present, this is a great fly. It sinks slowly and represents the lighter colored nymph very well. This fly should be fished in a team as per the Claret Nymph and at least nine feet from the end of your fly line as the top dropper. Barbless.
