Beech's Tan & Orange Toad
Beech’s Tan and Orange Toad is a barra ready variation of the classic Tarpon Toad, tied with a broad, pulsing profile that hangs in the water and keeps working even when you are barely moving it.
This is the sort of fly you want around snags, mangrove edges, timber, drains and shallow structure, where fish often need time to track, inspect and commit. Rather than stripping it straight out of the strike zone, the Toad can be paused and twitched, letting the materials breathe and hold the fish’s attention.
The tan and orange colour mix is a very useful choice for barramundi, saratoga and mangrove jack, especially in tannin stained water, dirty edges and warmwater systems where visibility and silhouette both matter. It is also a strong option for Murray cod, kingfish and other predators that like to stalk a fly before eating it.
Tied on a strong, sharp Gamakatsu SL12S hook and fitted with a nylon weed guard, this fly is built for close quarters work where you need to throw tight to cover and trust the fly when a fish eats.
A brilliant pattern for sight casting to barra, fishing the snags, or packing for tropical trips where tarpon, barra and other ambush predators are on the cards.
Available in size 4/0.
Best for: Barramundi, saratoga, mangrove jack, Murray cod, kingfish, tarpon and tropical predator flyfishing.
