A traditional spider pattern with a peacock herl to add some extra flash. Dead drift this fly or fish with a very slow retrieve. A prowling fish will surely be interested with a bit of animation.
Designed by Tom Ivens just after the 2nd World War. Spiders have seen a new age of popularity in recent years and are a good choice at the beginning of a hatch when insects are coming off but no fish are rising.
