This box requires adding C&F's system foam to one side to complete the box. One side houses flies in compartments and system foam on the other.
A 9-frame compartment that can be opened and closed with a single latch, and a system case that can accommodate one [small size] system foam.
The separately sold system foam is recommended for trout (5 mm thick) to ensure clearance inside the case. MADE IN JAPAN
This was my third small c&f fly box. Been very happy with the brand, but this product is a real disappointment. Ultimately the complaint comes down to the fact that the compartment divider does not fix into place. It gives the impression that the sides of the fly box can be changed as much as a normal c&f box, but the compartment side can only possibly contain compartments. But the dividers don’t lock into place, so flies just slip under the gaps and move compartments. You might have organised all of your size 16s away from your size 12s, but give the box a gentle shake and that organisation is lost. What is worse is that the flies can escape the plastic lid covering the fly compartment, so you have to make sure you gently open the fly box on the right side every time so that flies don’t fall into the river.
All in all, just don’t bother, get a normal c&f box. If you want compartments, buy one with magnetic compartments where the dividing walls are fixed in place without gaps underneath.
