Warranty and Returns

365 DAY RETURNS

We won’t rest till you’re totally satisfied with your purchase. 

HOW IT WORKS
If for any reason you decide you no longer want a purchased product you can return the item in unused condition within 365 days. We’ll then give you store credit to the full value of your original purchase to use on something you do want. 

RODS
Buying a new fly rod is a significant investment and we want to make sure you buy the right rod for your casting style. When you buy a new rod from The Flyfisher you have a year to test and evaluate your rod purchase. If you decide you’re not satisfied, you can exchange it for a rod that does suit. When testing a rod we recommend cleaning your hands first and handling the rod and rod tube with care.  Rods returned with scratches or dirty cork grips may be refused.

WADERS AND BOOTS
Using our size charts will help you obtain the perfect fit for waders and boots however nothing compares to actually trying them on. When they arrive, to be sure of the perfect fit, we suggest putting your waders and boots on and having a good walk around the home or office (or somewhere people aren’t going to judge you!).

Returned items must be in new condition and in their original packaging. Once your return is received and inspected by us (usually within 72 hours of receipt), your return will be processed and a voucher supplied for online or in-store purchasing.

Should you wish, The Flyfisher can refund the purchase price of your item for any reason if returned within 30 days of purchase.

EXCLUSIONS
The only exclusions from our 365 day returns policy are specially ordered items. If we specially source an item for you, we cannot accept returns for that item. These might include things like custom reels or waders. These items are hard for us to liquidate and so we cannot accept returns of specially ordered stock.

MANUFACTURER WARRANTIES
Each and every brand we represent has excellent warranties on their products. If you have a problem with any product purchased from us, we want to hear about it. Please call or email us with a description of the problem then we'll liaise with the manufacturer to resolve the warranty return. We do it all for you with no stress. At The Flyfisher, we appreciate your business and so when you need our support, we'll do whatever it takes to get you back on the water fast. Please be aware that these days, almost all manufacturers require a receipt of purchase to process warranty claims and so please retain them.

DAMAGED OR LOST GOODS IN TRANSIT
All items are packed extremely carefully and sent by secure carriers with tracking. If your order doesn’t arrive or it does but the contents is damaged, we’ll have it resolved within a week and at no extra cost to you. Unlike our competitors, we accept the risk with shipping items around Australia. In the unlikely event, please contact us ASAP so we can lodge an investigation with the carrier and get replacement goods on the way.

BROKEN FLY RODS
Most of the major fly rod manufacturers have very generous warranties on them and in most cases broken sections can be replaced. Please call us on (03) 9621 1246 if you have a broken brand name rod, and we'll quite happily let you know if it can be serviced. Didn't buy it from us? Don't worry. As long as it was purchased in Australia, then we can probably help. All rod manufacturers have a cost to process warranties. The current estimate warranty cost for factory made fly rods is Sage $200-$350, Orvis $200, Scott $200, Eden $80, Vision $100, Primal $150, R.L Winston $350+ and Hardy $100. Please note, because all fly rods are stress tested before supply, there are no exceptions to the warranty charge whether you believe the rod was defective or not. The warranty is a blanket program that is treated the same whether you’ve trodden on the rod or it simply broke when you were casting. Should you require a loan rod while yours is being repaired, please let us know and in most cases we can help you out.

PREMIUM QUALITY GUARANTEE
We stand by the products we sell and the brands we represent. Here at The Flyfisher we choose to sell quality products that last. It’s rare, but if you do have an issue with a purchased product we’ll resolve it within a week or two at most so you’ll be back on the water fast. Items damaged as a result of wear and tear are not considered to be faulty. Where possible, we will repair faulty items however in most cases the item will need to be sent to the respective manufacturer for warranty. Please retain receipts.

THE FLYFISHER PLATINUM ROD SERVICE
Purchase a fly rod from us for $1500+ and we’ll cover any rod repair within the first 12 months. Geographically we’re a long way from our fly rod manufacturing partners and so repairs take time. This sucks and so we’ll lend you a quality rod to use while yours is being repaired – all at no charge. Excludes shipping cost from shop to you.

QUALITY RIGGING GUARANTEE
Our staff are highly experienced and we promise to rig your gear to the same high standard we rig our own. We take pride in knowing that the gear we sell is ready for the water and whatever fish you choose to throw at.  From billfish to tarpon or taimen to trout – we set you up for success on the water.
