Hardy has completely redesigned the frame while retaining its proven cassette system, with each reel supplied with two additional cassette spools so you can have three different lines rigged and ready to go.

Bar-stock 6061 anodised aluminium frame and spool carrier

Large-arbor design

Robust disc drag system

Precise drag adjustment with positive detents

Secure slide-switch cassette locking system

Supplied with three cassette spools in total

Cassette spools fully interchangeable with Hardy Ultradisc Cassette / UDC reels

Supplied with neoprene reel and spool case

The big advantage of the Averon Cassette is versatility. Rather than stripping one fly line off your reel every time conditions change, you can keep several lines permanently loaded onto individual cassettes and swap them in seconds. For stillwater fishing in particular, that means you could carry floating, intermediate and sinking lines while using the same reel throughout the day.

The new frame is machined from 6061 aluminium, giving the reel a strong, rigid foundation while retaining lightweight cassette spools. Hardy's locking system securely holds each cassette in place, while the large-arbor design provides quick line retrieval and helps reduce fly-line memory.

Existing Hardy Ultradisc Cassette owners also get an important bonus: the old UDC cassettes and new Averon cassettes are interchangeable, allowing you to continue using your existing collection of spools with the new reel.

Who is this for?

Flyfishers who regularly carry multiple fly lines and want the convenience of changing them quickly on the water. It's particularly well suited to stillwater trout fishing, where switching between floating, intermediate and different sinking lines throughout the day is common.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0520/5793/1958/files/HAR_AveronCassetteReel_1632643_alt8.webp?v=1791165967
